Who would have believed it back in 1969 at the first band rehearsal that the Pasadena Roof Orchestra would be on the road in 2009 celebrating its 40th Anniversary Year!
Perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised; because this is the most authentic and stylistically reliable swing and dance orchestra of (post) modern times! From the moment passionate musician and master baker John Arthy discovered more than 1000 original arrangements for swing and dance titles in an attic, the die was cast.
The Pasadena Roof Orchestra has remained faithful to its roots of swing which have taken it several times around the world. One of the distinct qualities of this orchestra lies in its flexibility to perform just as successfully in concert halls, at galas, at festivals, and even in Jazz clubs. Indeed, there have been changes in repertoire, but only in that it is continually growing, and now numbers over 200 titles of 1920’s and 30’s dance band music including, of course, its namesake “Home in Pasadena”.
Not only 40 years on tour, but also 40 recorded vinyl LPs, singles, CDs, and DVDs have been released since 1974. So, join us as we celebrate 40 Glorious Years of the Pasadena Roof Orchestra!
